As I reflect on my journey of professional advancement, I'm reminded of a quote by Arthur Ashe: "One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confirdence is preperation." In may ways this resonates with my own personal experiences.
My journey began with an oppotunity to work with a law firm shortly after graduating with my LL.M degree from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. The firm's primary goal was to advocate for Government sponsired health insurance for individuals who were unable to pay for private insurance premiums. This experience ignited a passion that would lead me away from the legal field to a fourteen-plus year career advancing a mission to connect skilled health professionals to areas and people in need of their services. I've always been driven by the desire to help people. But leaving behind years of legal studies and the career I once envisioned required me to learn, grown and challenge myself in many ways. The opportunities and obstacles I encountered became a stepping stone for my development and shaped me into the person I am today.
One of the most defining aspects of my develoment has been embracing change and stepping out of my comforth zone. Whether it was taking on new responsibilities at work, pursuing further education, championing new initiatives or stepping into unfamiliar territories, I've learned that you cannot grow in your comforth zone. Moreover, growth often time lies on the otherside of fear. By pushing myself beyond what I thought possible, I've discovered strengths and abilities I never knew I had.
Another important element of my journey has been the power of continuous learning. I am a firm believer that learning is a lifelong journey, and I've made it my personal responsibility and priority to seek out new knowledge and skills at every opportunity. Whether it is through formal education, professional development programs, or simply consulting a new book or resources, I've remained committed to my curiosity and staying ahead of the curve.
Additionally, my professional advancement was possible with the help and support of mentors, couches, champions and colleagues who guide and inspired my journey along the way. Their advacacy, encouragement, advice and feedback helped me to navigate the ups and downs of my journey, from an analyst to a division director.
As look towards my future, I am excited to continue growing, evolving, and embracing new challenges. Whether it is furthering my career, pursuing new passions, or making a positive impact in the lives of others, I am committed to pushing the boundaies of what is possible.
In conclusion, I want to encourage everyone reading this article to embrace thier own development journey, whether you are just starting out or seasoned in your career. Continue to seek growth, challenge yourself and believe in yourself.
